ALERT: 5 November 2015. A flight from Sharm el Sheikh to St Petersburg crashed in North Sinai on 31 October 2015 killing everyone onboard.
Fears are that the crash may have been caused by an explosive device. As a precautionary measure, the UK Government is advising against all but essential travel by air to or from Sharm el Sheikh. Further – UK carriers will now not take passengers directly to Sharm el Sheikh airport.
For travellers already in Sharm el Sheikh the UK Government is working with Egyptian authorities and carriers to put in extra security measures so that citizens can return by air. For those in the region, contact your tour operators and carriers to arrange your departure details. The resort itself has not had a raised threat level and the cautionary measures just apply to air travel to and from Sharm el Sheikh.
